Sabrina Carpenter leads the charge to top the Official Albums Chart this week – but can she hold off Christmas crooner Michael Bublé to secure the UK’s Official Number 1 Christmas album?
Former chart-topper Short N’ Sweet tops the chart midweek – the sixth studio album from Sab is looking to snatch a second non-consecutive week at Number 1. The LP has also birthed a trio of UK Number 1 singles this year; Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste.
Kicking at Sab’s heels at Number 2 midweek, Michael Bublé always makes an appearance this time of year with the festive LP Christmas. As it stands, Bublé is around 150 chart units away from Sabrina.
Christmas has become a definitive staple on the Official Chart every winter – the album has spent six non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 since its initial release in 2011.
The Reytons approach a third UK Top 10 album with Clifton Park (6), while Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre’s collab album Missionary (7) could secure the West Coast rapper Snoop his first-ever UK Top 10 album, and iconic, trailblazing producer Dr Dre his third.
The Cure’s former Number 1 LP Songs of a Lost World is looking to get a massive boost week-on-week, tracking for a return into the Top 10 (8).
Teddy Swims has had a brilliant breakout year, and could cap 2024 off with his first Top 10 album. I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy – Part 1 is currently expected to bounce 22 places to Number 10 come Friday.
Further down, Dua Lipa’s Live from the Royal Albert Hall sees itself rise into the Top 20 mid-week, following its premiere on ITV over the weekend (16), while Niall Horan’s The Show: Live On Tour could make its chart debut (17).
Daft Punk’s 2001 opus Discovery could bounce back into the Top 40 (21), following a limited-edition physical release in conjunction with the French duo’s anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem getting a 4K remastered re-issue. Originally, Discovery peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart.
The National’s new live album Rome could give the indie-rock outfit their seventh UK Top 40 album (24), while RAYE’s My 21st Century Blues plots a Top 40 return just in time for Christmas (30).
Finally, UK indie-rockers Wunderhorse could see their 2022 debut album Cub enter the Top 40 for the first time ever, fresh off supporting Sam Fender at his recent O2 headline gig (36).
