Daddy Yankee has reached a private agreement with his estranged wife, who he alleged in legal filings had made unauthorised withdrawals of $100 million (£80 million) in funds from two of his companies.
Yankee, who shot to fame in 2004 with his monster hit Gasolina, told reporters he was "very calm" as he arrived at the courthouse in San Juan on 20 December.
"These things happen," said the Despacito rapper and singer, wearing a black suit, shirt and tie.
Billboard magazine reports that the reggaeton icon - who announced in 2023 that he would be devoting his life to Christianity - reached a partial agreement "in good faith" with his estranged wife, Mireddys González, during a court hearing in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
After private negotiations, the artist, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, and González have reportedly agreed that he will regain control of El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, becoming president of the companies on 26 December.
Yankee and González were high school sweethearts who married in 1995. The pair, who share two children, confirmed earlier this month that they would be divorcing after 29 years of marriage.
"I have always respected Mrs González, and I ask that you respect her as well," Yankee reportedly told the press after the hearing.
