Jennifer Hudson views each of the songs on her Christmas album as a "gift" to her fans.

The singer-actress unveiled her debut holiday album, titled The Gift of Love, in October, with the record featuring her take on classic tracks like Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland.

Reflecting on the project during an interview for People, Jennifer noted it was difficult to narrow down the number of songs to include.

"I look at it as a Christmas tree full of different songs," she said. "And whatever song you love on there is your Christmas gift from me to you. So, I hope you guys pick it up and choose your song. I can't wait to figure out which gift you got."

Jennifer went on to name O Holy Night as her favourite Christmas song and her rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah as one of her top tracks on the album.

"I love each and every one of them. I feel like they all represent a piece of me," the 43-year-old continued.

The Gift of Love also includes the original song Almost Christmas, which features an appearance from Jennifer's boyfriend Common.

Discussing the song in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the daytime talk show host gushed that the collaboration happened "organically".

"I mean, we're both artists, so in our atmosphere music can't help but to come up and it happens organically. It's just the musician in us and we love music, so we're music lovers as well," she smiled.
