Paramore's Hayley Williams has helped her grandfather prepare his debut album for release.
On Tuesday, the singer and her Paramore bandmate Zac Farro announced that they would be formally dropping Rusty Williams's lost album, Grand Man.
Originally recorded in the 1970s, Grand Man features 13 songs, including the single Knocking (At Your Door).
"So many people our age are mining these albums for tones and things you can't even replicate," the Paramore frontwoman said in a press release. "And Grandat (sic) has a way of cutting to the core of a feeling, and not overcomplicating it. Which we tend to do, because the world is hard. It's nice when you can hear something plain and simple and know that it is true."
Hayley went on to note that Rusty, now 78, had always written music and was once a member of a band.
Previously, the Misery Business singer sampled his song Friends or Lovers on her solo debut, Petals for Armor, in 2020.
And while it was believed Grand Man was lost, his production partner recently rediscovered it.
"I thought that it was a crime that these songs were sitting there on the shelf," drummer Zac declared.
Meanwhile, Rusty is thrilled that his music will finally be shared with the world, saying, "I don't expect anything, and I'm too old to be famous. But I just want to know someone liked what I did, and to be touched by whatever the hell they are listening to. I want people to see how it felt when things were real."
Grand Man will be released via Zac's Congrats Records on 14 February.
