Marilyn Manson will no longer face charges following a string of sexual abuse and domestic violence allegations.
The 56-year-old rock musician has been accused by more than a dozen women of abusive behaviour - including former partner Evan Rachel Wood, 37.
Manson - whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner - always denied all allegations against him.
On Friday, the singer learned that he would no longer face criminal charges in relation to the allegations made against him due to lack of evidence and a legal technicality.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman said, per Deadline, "We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt."
The dropping of charges comes after prosecutors spent more than four years investigating the claims - and two months after Manson was ordered to pay nearly $327,000 (£260,000) in legal fees to Wood, whom he sued for defamation in 2022.
His action had come after she told a congressional committee in 2017 that she had been raped and repeatedly abused by an unnamed attacker - with Manson pursuing legal action despite the fact he was not named by her.
Following the ruling of Attorney Hochman, the DA's office said in a statement, "We recognise and applaud the courage and resilience of the women who came forward to make reports and share their experiences, and we thank them for their cooperation and patience with the investigation.
"While we are unable to bring charges in this matter, we recognise that the strong advocacy of the women involved has helped bring greater awareness to the challenges faced by survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault."
In a statement of her own following the ruling, Wood said, "Evidence of violent crimes should not have an expiration date. I am grateful for the work law enforcement has done, and I am endlessly proud of all the survivors who risked everything to protect others by speaking the truth."
Manson's attorney, Howard King, said in a statement to the Daily Mail, "We are very pleased that, after a thorough and incredibly lengthy review of all of the actual evidence, the District Attorney has concluded what we knew and expressed from the start - Brian Warner is innocent."
