Firerose has issued a statement about her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus.

The Australian singer released the statement after Billy's son, Trace, wrote an open letter to his dad following his controversial performance at Donald Trump's inauguration, where he sang in a monotone voice and wandered around the stage.

"We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it." Trace, 35, wrote in a letter on social media.

Now Firerose has claimed that the man people saw on stage is a true representation of how the 63-year-old singer behaved during their marriage.

"What's being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship," the 36-year-old said.

"It's very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I'm glad the truth is coming to light - for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there's a problem."

She continued, "For me, I remain focused on my faith, my music, my healing and using my story to encourage others to find strength and hope."

The couple were married for four years and married for seven months. Their divorce was finalised in August 2024, with both parties claiming their relationship became abusive. Cyrus requested an annulment of the marriage in terms of fraud, alleging Firerose was "physically," verbally and emotionally abusive. She denied all allegations.
