Tina Knowles has shared her sadness at the death of Howard law professor Kiah Duggins, who was among those killed in the Washington, DC air disaster.

"So very saddened by the loss of this beautiful accomplished young woman," Beyonce's mother wrote via Instagram. "Rest in peace, to her family sending condolences, and love to you. God bless your soul, Kiah."

Knowles also shared a graphic with Duggins' portrait, which read, "Rest in Peace. Professor Kiah Duggins was among those lost in last night's plane crash in DC. Professor Duggins was set to begin a new chapter as a professor at Howard University School of Law this fall. May her memory be an inspiration to all."

Howard University is located in Washington, DC, and its famous alumni include Kamala Harris, Toni Morrison and Roberta Flack.

News broke on Wednesday, 29 January that a commercial American Airlines plane flying in from Wichita, Kansas, had crashed in the Potomac River after a collision with a military helicopter. There were reportedly four crew members and 60 passengers on board.

The passenger list also included 14 youth figure skaters who were travelling home from the US Figure Skating Team's development camp held in Wichita in January.
