Ty Dolla $ign denounces hate speech following collaborator Kanye West's antisemitic posts
Ty Dolla $ign has distanced himself from his rap collaborator Kanye West's offensive views.
The rapper, who is the other half of the hip-hop supergroup ¥$, seemingly denounced his close collaborator's controversial views after the Stronger hitmaker went on a four-day hate-filled X rampage and began selling swastika T-shirts on his web store.
"I do not condone ANY form of hate speech towards ANYBODY," Ty, real name Tyrone William Griffin Jr., wrote on his Instagram Stories.
He did not directly address Kanye, also known as Ye, however, the declaration came amid a significant backlash against the rapper over his antisemitic and racist posts.
Ty and Kanye first started working together on music in 2014 for the latter's album The Life of Pablo. They announced the formation of their duo in October 2023 and released two collaborative albums, Vultures 1 and Vultures 2, last year.
The musician isn't the first celebrity to speak about Kanye's activity on X. The likes of Isla Fisher, David Schwimmer and Charlie Puth have all made social media statements denouncing his posts.
Kanye's X profile was deactivated earlier this week amid the furore but it is now active again. The majority of his offensive posts have been deleted and there is now a content warning before users see the profile.
When users visit the page, they see the message, "Caution: This profile may include potentially sensitive content," and they must click a button to proceed to his posts.
The E-commerce platform Shopify shut down Kanye's Yeezy website after he began selling the offensive T-shirt on Sunday. The web store remains unavailable.
