Daddy Yankee has filed a $250 million (£194 million) lawsuit against his ex-wife for financial mismanagement and defamation.

The superstar has accused Mireddys González and her sister of negligently running two of his companies and engaging in a defamatory campaign against him.

"Mireddys and Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellanos continued to assume greater power than was permitted and together made reckless and selfish decisions that were detrimental to both the companies and Mr Ayala Rodriguez (Daddy Yankee)," the lawsuit states.

After the news broke, González, who has two children with the Gasolina singer, took to social media to share her feelings about her challenging situation.

The businesswoman posted several images along with Bible verses. One of the posts read: "Stop having empathy for people who treat you badly."

In another post, González shared: "Emotional attachment is a prison for the soul; it makes you see virtues that do not exist and hopes where there are none."

Daddy Yankee married his high school sweetheart González in 1995.

In February, it was announced that the pair had officially ended their nearly 30-year marriage.

The couple finalised their divorce on 18 February. The dissolution of their marriage occurred via a virtual hearing, with each of them present in their respective lawyers' offices rather than meeting in person.
