Mariah Carey's brother claims she conspired with fan to destroy his reputation
Mariah Carey's older brother has accused the singer of orchestrating a YouTube video to destroy his reputation.
Morgan Carey is claiming that one of his sister's fans, who was under her "employment and control", created a YouTube video to further "damage" his reputation.
The news comes in a new legal filing, as reported by the Daily Mail.
In February of this year, the document states, Morgan became aware of a YouTube video titled Morgan Carey: A Deep Dive Into Mariah Carey's Disturbing Older Brother, created by a Mariah fan named Lambily.
The video rehashes revelations detailed in Mariah's autobiography, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, published in October 2020.
These include that Morgan and their mother Patricia were working in cahoots to have her institutionalised so that they could take control of her financial affairs, and claims that Morgan hit their mother after their father Alfred left the home, so that "he felt like he'd become the man of the house".
Morgan initially sued Mariah in 2021 for what he claimed were false and defamatory statements.
Now, he is asking the judge to accept his new amended lawsuit and for $40 million (£30 million) in damages and profits from the book, after 14 of the 16 claims in his original suit were dismissed.
