Raye has confessed she broke down in tears in the recording studio after feeling under pressure to deliver new music.

Having enjoyed considerable success with her debut studio album My 21st Century Blues, and receiving a series of prestigious award nominations, the 27-year-old star has admitted feeling overwhelmed to produce fresh hits.

Raye took to social media to share why she's been keeping a low profile since recently returning to the recording studio.

"I was overthinking everything and I definitely cried. So I've been offline because the bar is definitely high," she said in a video posted on TikTok.

Raye admitted she was reduced to tears during the first five sessions in the studio, because she "couldn't write anything".

However, the Worth It singer has reassured fans she is now feeling more confident and ready to make new material.

"I just want to trust my gut, hope I make the right decisions and, more than anything, just believe in it if no one else does because I do," she explained in the video, which showed her getting ready. "I have have have to think like that, that's why I'm offline."

Raye, real name Rachel Keen, famously parted ways with Polydor Records in 2021 after she claimed the music label had refused to release My 21st Century Blues.

The album was later released independently by Human Re Sources in February 2023.
