Oasis star Liam Gallagher has hired a fearsome US celebrity lawyer in his love child court case.

Judith Poller will represent the rocker at this month's hearings in New York after his former lover, Liza Ghorbani, requested an increase in payments for their daughter Gemma, who is 12.

Ghorbani is a journalist who interviewed Gallagher in 2010, leading to a brief affair and the birth of Gemma in 2013.

The singer, who has not met Gemma, reached an agreement on maintenance payments a decade ago but The Sun on Sunday revealed last month that Ghorbani is now seeking an increase.

Poller has previously represented film stars Scarlett Johansson and Drew Barrymore,

Ghorbani's case will be heard by Judge Jeffrey Pearlman in the New York Supreme Court on 16 April.

A second hearing has been scheduled for 28 April if the judge rules there is a valid case to be heard.

Gallagher has four children from four different relationships: Molly, 26, from his affair with Lisa Moorish; Lennon, 24, born during his marriage to Patsy Kensit; Gene, 23, from his marriage to All Saints star Nicole Appleton; and Gemma.

Gallagher is on track to earn a reported $64 million (£50 million) from the upcoming Oasis reunion tour.
