11 April 2025
London hip-hop innovator Loyle Carner has today dropped a potent double single, "all i need / in my mind," marking a bold evolution in his sound. Released via Island EMI, the two tracks arrive alongside the exciting announcement that Carner will headline Glastonbury's iconic The Other Stage on June 27th, his only scheduled performance of the summer.
"all i need" showcases a newfound sonic ambition, blending Carner's signature poetic rap with a wall of guitars and shifting breakbeat rhythms, drawing inspiration from the energy of bands like Big Thief and Idles. The track explores themes of ambiguity and vulnerability, with a hypnotic chorus repeating "all I need, all I need/This is all I need."
The B-side, "in my mind," offers a contrasting hazy and introspective vibe, revealing Carner's previously unheard singing voice. Recorded with his son present, the track explores themes of legacy and letting go, representing a step outside his comfort zone while staying true to his core.
This release follows high praise for his 2024 album hugo, hailed as a "beautiful, blistering masterpiece" by The Observer. Having already established himself as a vital voice in UK music with Mercury Prize nominations and a dedicated global fanbase, Carner continues to push creative boundaries.
Adding another string to his bow, it has also been announced that Loyle Carner will make his acting debut in "Mint," a forthcoming BBC drama from BAFTA-nominated Scrapper director Charlotte Regan. This foray into acting further underscores Carner's multifaceted artistic vision.
With a Glastonbury headline slot and a burgeoning acting career on the horizon, alongside the compelling new music of "all i need / in my mind," Loyle Carner is clearly entering an exciting new chapter, solidifying his position as one of the UK's most important and unpredictable artists.
