Eminem's stalker has been convicted once again after breaking into the rapper's current or former homes three times in six years.

The Real Slim Shady rapper and his security boss took to the stand to testify against Matthew David Hughes, 32, during a trial in Detroit, Michigan earlier this week.

The jury subsequently found Hughes guilty of first-degree home invasion and aggravated stalking after 90 minutes of deliberations, and Hughes will be sentenced on 17 June.

Hughes was arrested in August 2024 after breaking into the musician's property in Clinton Township, a suburb of Detroit. He has been in jail since his arrest because he didn't meet bail conditions.

The 32-year-old received his first conviction in relation to Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, in 2019. He broke into the Without Me hitmaker's former home and spent 90 days in prison for breaking and entering.

The following year, he broke into Eminem's Clinton Township house while the 52-year-old was sleeping inside the property. Eminem said to police that he woke up to find Hughes in his bedroom and was told that he "was there to kill him".

As part of a plea deal, Hughes pleaded guilty to the 2020 incident and was sentenced to five years of probation. However, he violated the terms of his probation with an unrelated assault and went back to prison in 2021. He was released on parole in May 2024.

During the brief trial, which began on Tuesday and ended the following day, prosecutor Steve Fox told the court that Eminem now sleeps in a padlocked room because of his past encounters with Hughes.

"Marshall Mathers has taken extraordinary steps to protect himself and his family," Fox said, according to local reports. "Security 24/7. And each time that step has had to increase, but only as the result of one person's actions, Matthew Hughes."
