BTS bandmembers RM and V have been discharged from mandatory military service in South Korea.
The K-pop stars posed for fans and photographers in their military uniforms outside a base in Chuncheon on Tuesday to celebrate the end of their 18-month mandatory service.
The duo were greeted by hundreds of fans and presented with bouquets of flowers, while RM played the saxophone in recognition of his time with the military band.
"To all the ARMYs who have waited for us in the military, I want to say I am truly, truly grateful," V, 29, told reporters and fans. "Please wait just a little longer and we will return with a really cool performance."
RM, 30, added, "We've served the shortest military duty in history, as you know. Still, entering this stage in life at a later age brought many tough moments."
BTS went on hiatus in 2022 so all seven members could carry out their mandatory service, which requires all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 to serve 18 to 21 months in the military. However, the stars were allowed to delay it until they were 30.
RM and V began their service in December 2023.
The oldest member of BTS, Jin, was discharged from military service in June 2024, followed by bandmate J-Hope in October.
Jimin and Jung Kook are set to be released on Wednesday, and Suga, who is fulfilling his duty as a social service agent, will finish his requirement later this month.
The bandmates are expected to reunite later this year.
