Oasis guitarist and co-founder Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs has revealed the source of his signature sound on the band’s 2025 reunion tour: his original 1984 guitar. The legendary six-string, which pre-dates the band, has been a cornerstone of the Oasis sound from the very beginning.
Arthurs confirmed he is still playing the decades-old instrument, stating, "I'm still playing my original 1984 guitar on the Oasis 2025 tour, and I wouldn't have it any other way." The guitar’s history spans the entirety of Oasis’s original run, having been used "from the early rehearsals at the Boardwalk in Manchester all the way up to those historic shows at Knebworth and on into Liam's solo career."
Bonehead's solid, driving guitar work, delivered through this very instrument, was crucial in shaping the band's early sound on seminal albums like Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?.
The enduring legacy of the guitar is now being cemented by manufacturer Epiphone, which has released a special Bonehead Riviera model. A spokeswoman for the brand praised Arthurs for embodying their "For Every Stage" mantra, noting that from the earliest shows to the "era-defining nights at Knebworth, Bonehead consistently pushed his Epiphone Riviera to the limits."
The announcement comes as Arthurs has had to take a planned break from the Oasis Live '25 dates to receive treatment for prostate cancer. Announcing the news on October 3rd, he expressed confidence in returning for the next leg, stating he would be "back ready to go in time for South America," where the tour restarts in Argentina on November 15th.
In related news, Epiphone also launched a signature Sheraton model with fellow Oasis guitarist Gem Archer. Archer, who replaced Arthurs in 1999, confirmed he is also using his new signature model on the reunion tour, ensuring the iconic Epiphone sound remains a powerful force in the band's comeback.
