Ringo Starr reportedly told a fan to “F**k off”.
The former Beatles drummer was taken by surprise when a devotee approached him after he had collected a Diamond award on behalf of the band at the World Music Awards in Monaco on Sunday (09.11.08) and began shouting at the shocked female admirer.
A source said: “A middle-aged woman ran over and threw her arms around him, almost knocking him over.
"Ringo was a bit shocked, he just wanted to get away. After he shouted at her, he said, ‘Get off me. F**k off’.
She looked absolutely stunned, but he just walked away."
The musician then reportedly took his anger out on a camera crew who were waiting to interview him.
The source added to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “He shouted, ‘Get away from me. I'm not doing that now. I'm not doing interviews.’ ”
Ringo caused controversy recently after posting a video message on his website announcing he would no longer sign autographs.
The 68-year-old appeared in the clip saying: “This is a serious message to everyone watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love.
"I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October.
"If that is the date on the envelope, it's going to be tossed. I'm warning you with peace and love. I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love."
