Striding from strength to strength, following their current sold-out UK tour that included a triumphant London date at the Scala, dynamic Kentucky quintet Cage The Elephant commence 2009 with a bang, with the release of the new single ‘Back Against The Wall’ on January 26th on Relentless.
Originally featured on their acclaimed self-titled debut album, ‘Back Against The Wall’ has been reworked exclusively for this single release. Aside from the fresh take on the title track, the single features a variety of new material across the CD, digital bundle and 7” formats. The CD and digital bundle add the brand new acoustic track ‘Cover Me Again’ with their version of MGMT’s ‘Kids’ that was recorded for Radio 1’s Live Lounge. The 7” is backed with a cover of ‘False Skorpion’, the original of which was a b-side to Pavement’s 1995 single ‘Rattled By La Rush’.
Renowned for their incendiary live show, Cage The Elephant’s current tour featured nineteen dates across the UK all of which were sold-out in advance. With demand to see the band ever increasing, Cage The Elephant are planning their biggest tour to date for March. The band have previously hit the road alongside a diverse selection of bands lead by Cage The Elephant admirers Queens of the Stone Age as well as bands including Pigeon Detectives, Foals and The Subways.
Cage The Elephant established themselves as one of 2008’s hottest breaking bands with festival dates including Reading, Leeds, Bestival and an Ibiza Rocks show with The Streets. The band have also been a regular fixture on television with storming performances on Later with Jools Holland and Channel 4’s Nokia Green Room, as well as a Never Mind The Buzzcocks debut from frontman Matt Shultz.
