It's true - sex and rock 'n' roll really do go hand in hand, at least according to new research by extra-marital dating site IllicitEncounters.co.uk. The site released figures this week that suggest fans of rock music are more likely to pursue an affair.
Of the site's 310,000 strong membership, 37% male and female members cite rock music as their favorite genre of music. In comparison, 20% of members like pop and R'n'B, 19% favor dance music and 17% are fans of blues and jazz. The least represented genre is 'Christian/Gospel music', with only 3% of members citing it as a favourite type of music.
"This shouldn't come as a surprise, really." says Sarah Hartley, site representative. "Rock music has been associated with sex since the 50's. Lots of prominent rock stars - Mick Jagger, Debbie Harry - oozed sex appeal."
"Many of our members in in their late 30's/early 40's, so would have grown up listening to pioneering bands like Aerosmith, Blondie, AC/DC and Fleetwood Mac. This may explain why so many of them are rock music fans."
IllicitEncounters.co.uk has been running since 2003, and is now the UK's most popular extra-marital dating site. This survey of members was conducted internally in late May this year.
