The Scissor Sisters have abandoned their third album after receiving dud reviews from their peers.

The record, which was supposedly finished last year was not good enough to pass the tough test of the band’s friends.

“I knew we had to make something we could love and stand behind,” singer Jake Shears told Andrew Murfett of The Age. “It was actually a relief to make the decision. I was feeling so burdened by this music.”

It took the band a year to make the record and now it will be quite a wait until we see the band reappear. If they manage to release a record next year, that will be a five year gap between records.

The band are still active, however. Their Glastonbury performance last weekend was one of the most talked about shows of the festival and featured a guest appearance by Kylie Minogue.
