Leading independent entertainment retailer Head announces new initiative to help local artists to sell their music through their music retail outlets in Leamington Spa, Bromley, Bristol and Belfast. The retailer has pledged to raise awareness in these communities of the breadth of local music talent available, personalizing music along the way.
Most bands and singers/songwriters are aware of the difficulties they face when competing with bigger acts and names, and its increasingly hard to sustain a living from music, however with retailers such as Head voting with their feet to help local artists and musicians in this way it offers a refreshing alternative to the mainstream.
Head are offering a viable commercial option for artists to sell their music and are calling for more local acts to get in touch with them to build their list of unsigned acts. This is open to musicians from all genres. The music retailer will let the artists set the price for their own music.
Activity will come to a ‘Head’ on April 16th when live music events will be staged to celebrate Independent Record Store day. All of the stores are also up for 'Best Indie Record Store' of their region. Voting has begun online at www.indierecordshop.org
Head Managing Director Les Whitfield says: 'We are very excited to involve the local community in building a hub for artists in the area and create a network of like-minded individuals who we will work with to bring back that feeling of camaraderie that independent record shops and musicians have always had.'
Artists looking to join the initiative should contact their local store for more details or join the Facebook group www.facebook.com/headbromley (Other stores pages are linked.)
