R. Kelly has emergency throat surgery

R&B superstar R. Kelly has been hospitalised for emergency throat surgery.

AP reports that Kelly complained of throat pain and was rushed to Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

According to a spokesperson for Kelly, surgeons drained an abscess on his tonsil and he will be “laid up indefinitely” to recover.

Kelly even alluded to a problem last week on twitter, saying “I refuse to take another cup of theraflu! I feel like my throat is coming back. I've been in bed sweating like crazy."

He finished off the US leg of a World Tour a week ago, but it looks like he won’t be ready to hit the rest of the globe soon.

Then again he did tweet three hours ago “I'd like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I WILL BE BACK!"
