Michael Jackson’s brothers Jermaine and Randy criticise their mother for booking a massive Welsh tribute concert.
The Guardian reports that Katherine Jackson has announced a Michael tribute concert at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on October 8 this year.
She announced that it will be attended by “as many members of my family that are available” at the press conference.
She said, "Michael gave his entire life to the world through his love, his music and his devotion to healing the planet. I am positive that this event will be an event great enough in scale, talent and imagination to form a worthy celebration of Michael's life" and promised appearances from “the world's greatest performing artists”.
Shortly afterward, brothers Randy and Jermaine delivered a press release saying that Katherine’s support "does not reflect the position of the entire family”.
"While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honours our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death,” they said, referring to the September 20 proceedings.
"In light of this,” they continue, “we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live.”
