Absolute Radio are set to create yet another iconic moment in music history – by staging an exclusive intimate gig with four time Grammy Award winning artist Lenny Kravitz in the fittingly wild, rock ‘n’ roll venue that is The Box, situated in the heart of the red light district in London’s Soho.
This is the first time in three years that Lenny will take to the stage for a solo headline performance. He will return to the spotlight on Monday 12th September for Absolute Radio in front of a select capacity crowd of just two hundred people.
Expect a variety of classics including ‘Fly Away’, ‘American Woman’ and ‘Are You Gonna Go My way’, with a mix new tracks from Lenny’s brand new album ‘Black and White America’ - his highly anticipated ninth studio album. The record is driven by new single ‘Stand’ and follows 8 previous albums and over 35 million units sold. Kravitz will bring his unique style to the table for the latest ‘Absolute Radio Presents’ gig. He has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 20 year musical career, one of which revels in the rich influences of 60’s and 70’s rock and funk.
The national radio station is to bring music-lovers the chance to win tickets to be at this once in a lifetime performance while the gig will be filmed to view on-demand at www.absoluteradio.co.uk.
Absolute Radio Breakfast Show DJ Christian O’Connell announced the gig on his breakfast show this morning. He said “Lenny Kravitz is an incredible artist and the fans that are lucky enough to win tickets are in for a real treat. He oozes cool and with such an intimate audience the gig promises to be very special indeed.”
Absolute Radio presents Lenny Kravitz at The Box in Soho is the latest in a line of unique gigs in unusual places that the station has staged. The brand hosted Elbow in the Crypt at St Paul’s Cathedral, made way for the legendary Elton John in the ethereal surroundings of the Union Chapel, staged the first ever rock gig in The Houses of Parliament with Biffy Clyro, London’s infamous Regent Street closed for the station’s first birthday with Madness performing, Newton Faulkner played from a Hot Air Balloon high above the Alps and Texas rocked the streets from Tower Bridge – all of which were truly unmissable, money-can’t-buy experiences for genuine music fans.
