Adele leads the way with the most nominations for the upcoming American Music Awards.
The 23-year-old British singer is up for four trophies, namely Artist of the Year, Favourite Female Artist, Favourite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favourite Album for her chart-topper, 21.
The nominees were announced in Los Angeles today for the 39th annual show and for the fifth year the winners will be chosen by public vote.
Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry follow Adele’s lead with three nominations each.
Beyoncé Knowles, Bruno Mars, Chis Brown, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj and Pitbull all had two nods respectively.
The big prize of Artist of the Year will be fought out between Adele, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift
Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Pitbull go up against each other for Favourite Male Pop Artist while
Adele, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry will vie for Favourite Female Artist.
Fans are going to be able to vote for the Sprint New Artist of the Year Award and the first round of voting to whittle down the names in the various categories begins today through October 21.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony on November 20 where Pitbull and Katy Perry are scheduled to perform.
