Rhino Handmade continues their Monkees reissue project with Instant Replay, the group's 1969 album that followed-up their movie Head and marked their debut without Peter Tork.
The triple-CD set contains 87 tracks, 58 of which are unreleased along with a 45-RPM vinyl single. The package includes mini-LP reproduction sleeves, vintage trade ads and an in-depth essay by Andrew Sandoval.
The first CD is dedicated to the stereo mixes of the album and contains the remastered version of the album along with 16 additional mixes. Highlights of the disc are an almost complete version of Michael Nesmith's 1968 Nashville sessions and a 1968 mix of Mickey Dolenz' anti-war song Mommy and Daddy.
Disc two has an almost complete mono mix of the album along with rare and unreleased recordings. Included are mono mixes of backing tracks for All the Grey Haired Men and an early 1969 version of Michael Nesmith's My Share of the Sidewalk.
The final disc let's you hear the creative process behind the making of Instant Replay with alternate takes, backing tracks and tapes from the group's TV special 33-1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee.
