Kelly Rowland went clubbing to get inspiration for her new album.
The star is currently promoting her third solo album Here I Am. The new material has been influenced by dance music and Kelly partied with friends to get in the right mood.
“Honestly though, I do use going out as research,” she told UK TV show Daybreak. “You just get to see stories right in front of your eyes – from friends partying, to a guy trying to hit on a girl, to a girl really feeling herself in a club, there are so many different moments that I took away with me from the club to the studio. Hence, Down for Whatever.”
There are several raunchy songs on the new album.
However, Kelly insists she wasn’t trying to shock people with the lyrics. She believes everyone likes to be “naughty” at times.
“It’s sassy, sexy, sensual. No, not rude! There is a bit of naughtiness in there, but everyone is naughty once in a while,” she teased.
The 30-year-old star was then quizzed about her duet with Lil Wayne on Motivation. During the song, Kelly uses metaphors about kitchens and cars to discuss sex. Lil Wayne also says ‘I put her on my plate and then I do the dishes’, but Kelly has remained coy about the true meaning behind the lyrics.
“Oh yes, that is very important,” she smiled when asked if she likes a domesticated man. “It is important that you have a guy who does the dishes, however you want to think about that.”
