Adele has been using a special phone application to help her speak.

The British singer underwent surgery on her throat a few weeks ago and has been told to rest her voice by doctors.

She loves talking to friends though, so has come up with a novel way to ensure she is still heard. Adele has downloaded a special application on her phone which says anything she types in out loud.

“She's been using the speaking app to buy coffee at Starbucks and to order cabs,” a source explained to British newspaper The Sun.

“It is far easier to communicate using it rather than writing everything down on paper and showing people.”

Adele had a vocal cord haemorrhage which was operated on in Boston, America, in early November. She is still in the city as she recuperates, but has assured fans the surgery was a success.

“I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever,” the star explained.

The 23-year-old singer has previously been forced to cancel shows due to her illness.

It was recently reported she will return to the stage next month on British talent programme The X Factor, where she will apparently sing with one of the finalists.
