Amy Winehouse’s family will spend New Year’s Eve with her boyfriend.

Reg Traviss was dating the British singer when she died in July, with claims they were secretly engaged.

He’s found the last few weeks increasingly hard to cope with and has decided to spend part of the festive period with her family as a tribute to the star.

“I’m not sure what the plans for Christmas will be. It’ll be difficult but I’ll be spending New Year’s Eve with [Amy’s parents] Mitch and Janis. Which will be good for all of us,” he told the British edition of Grazia magazine.

“We’ll talk about all the happy memories we have of Amy.”

Reg has become very close to Amy’s family since she passed away. They spend a great deal of time together and it helps him to be around people who understand how he is feeling.

“Amy’s parents have been amazing and have taken me under their wing, which is really helping,” he said. “It has hit me hard again in the last couple of weeks, and I’m not sure what has triggered it. It can just be a memory or hearing something.”

An inquest into Amy’s death recorded a verdict of misadventure. She was five times the UK drinking and driving alcohol limit when she passed, aged 27.
