Nineteen-year old Brighton singer Conor Maynard is on the cusp of stardom with his debut single already on national radio & TV playlists and shooting up the Shazam pre-order Top 20 chart with more than six weeks to go before its release.
As Record Of The Day announced on Monday, “Be prepared for this single to explode when the video premieres on March 2. This is a huge track to launch the most exciting pop/R&B artist the UK has produced since Tinie Tempah.”
And that video, shot in East London and directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat (Lianne La Havas, Hervé and DJ Fresh ft Rita Ora) has just gone live on Vevo and already been added to the A-list at MTV UK and MTV Hits where it is the ‘Most Wanted’ track all next week. It’s also just been announced as the brand new VIP Track with priority playlisting across Smash Hits, Kiss, 4Music and The Box TV channels.
You can watch the video here. And go behind the scenes below.
‘Can’t Say No’ is already on both the Kiss and 1Xtra playlists and 1Xtra have had the track as their breakfast show Record of the Week, playing it every day this week. Conor will also be live on Radio 1 with Tom Deacon after the Top 40 countdown this Sunday.
His fanatical fanbase is ever-growing with 182,000 Facebook fans, 65,000 Twitter followers and 52 million YouTube views as of today. And those numbers will climb even higher now that his first official music video has gone live. A lucky few of those fans who follow Conor’s every move online will be seeing him in the flesh when he plays live next week at Islington Academy. His debut London show in February saw fans queuing in the street from 8.30am.
His much-anticipated debut album will be out this summer featuring songs Conor has written and recorded with the likes of Jermaine Dupri (Usher, Mariah Carey), Midi Mafia (50 Cent, Frank Ocean), Kevin Rudolf (Jay Sean, Lil’ Wayne), Sandy Vee (Rhianna, Pitbull), Crada (Drake, Kid Kudi) and the legendary Dianne Warren.
