Hard Rock Cafe is collecting old and broken guitars which will be fixed up and passed on to disadvantaged children in conjunction with Barnardo’s. Now in its second year the guitar “amnesty” will be accepting the instruments from March 1st and acts as a great way to put used and unwanted guitars to good use.

Hard Rock Cafes in London, Edinburgh and Manchester have teamed up with Barnardo’s to launch the nationwide collection scheme. This initiative is a call to anyone who has outgrown junior guitars, broken one playing a killer riff or simply given up on their six string friend, to donate the instrument to Barnardo’s via their local Hard Rock Cafe.

Barnardo’s was chosen as the beneficiary of the ‘Guitar Amnesty’ initiative as this charity helps to turn around the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK. The guitars donated by Hard Rock Cafe will be fixed up and restored to their former glories before being used by the young people Barnardo’s works with across the UK.

Marc Carey Regional Sales and Marketing Europe commented “Hard Rock Cafe is urging as many people as possible to help us with this fantastic scheme. It doesn’t matter what condition the guitar is in our expert guitar technician will make them as good as new. The work Barnado’s do is incredible and we’re proud to be supporting them in their work with children across the UK”.

Jane Stacey, Barnardo’s UK Director of Children’s Services said: “Barnardo’s are delighted to be partnering with the Hard Rock Cafe through this innovative scheme. It’s great that children and young people who are supported by Barnardo’s services across the country will benefit from the generosity of those who donate their second hand guitars.”
