Speculation is mounting of a Rolling Stones Saturday Night Live performance this weekend with unconfirmed reports on the Stones forum iorr.org that the band is rehearsing in New York City.

According to a posting on iorr.org, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts were rehearsing yesterday with keyboard player Chuck Leavell and producer Don Was on bass.

The post says that the Rolling Stones rehearsed ‘Fool To Cry’, ‘Jumping Jack Flash’ and ‘Miss You’.

The rumour is spreading as Mick Jagger prepares for his very first role hosting the finale of Saturday Night Live this weekend. It also surfaces as The Guardian posted a Berlin date for the Rolling Stones for September 1 on its website on the weekend. The advertisement also listed an authentic Aerosmith date for July 3.

The Rolling Stones are yet to confirm any 50th anniversary live dates. While they formed in April, 1962, Keith Richards marks January for their anniversary because Charlie Watts joined in January, 1963.

A post at the Saturday Night Live website reads “We are SO EXCITED to announce that MICK JAGGER will be the host of our season finale this year on May 19th!! Mick (we can call him Mick, right?) hosted once before with the Rolling Stones, was a musical guest three times before and has made several cameos throughout the years. Let’s enjoy one of our favorite Mick Jagger moments from December 8th, 2001 and get excited for the finale May 19th!”.

Saturday Night Live airs at 11:30pm this Saturday night (East Coast US time).
