Matt Bellamy's band mate is "surprised" his golf club-wielding days didn't land him in hot water.

The Muse frontman is famed for his high profile relationship with Kate Hudson, with the pair constantly surrounded by paparazzi. Matt's bandmate Dominic Howard is always astounded when the star keeps his temper around the prying media.

"I'm surprised he hasn't smashed someone's camera up with a golf club yet," he joked to NME magazine. "He did start carrying a golf club at one point. I'm surprised it didn't make him crack and do something that was going to end up putting him in court."

Muse's sixth studio album The 2nd Law features the track Follow Me, which Matt based on the awkward times in his relationship with Kate. The 34-year-old star says the song is about going cap-in-hand to his impending mother-in-law Goldie Hawn's house.

"You've had a fight with your girlfriend and she goes off to her mum's house for the day and you're on your own going, 'What did I say?' I'm sure a lot of blokes have that experience in the early stages of relationships where you go 'Yeah, she's right, isn't she?'" he said.

Matt and Kate welcomed son Bingham into the world last July. The star has revealed how having a child has affected his song writing.

"It's made it a bit more focused. I don't think it's affected my concerns and fears and anxieties. If anything the concerns for the future are amplified," he said.
