Ringo Starr has issued a statement through his publicist denying that he is on the newly found live tracks by Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, reportedly recorded in 1960.

The recordings were found in the basement of Rory's sister's home and are said to have been recorded at the Jive Hive club in Crosby, England near Liverpool. Initial reports had Ringo as the drummer on the recordings, but he says that he is not.

It’s not me, that was done after I’d left to join the Beatles. I don’t know who the drummer was but I hope that Rory fans enjoy it anyway.

The only two tracks I was on were recorded while we were in Germany in 1960, when we made a two track acetate, and for those of you in the digi world that is a-ce-tate, of Mailman bring me no more blues, a Buddy Holly song sang by Lou Walters and Fever, and I’d love to hear those tracks ‘cause I don’t have a copy.”

Peace & Love, Ringo.

The album of the recordings is called Live at the Jive Hive and will be released on September 17 in the U.K. and will be available at Amazon as an import on September 25.
