Legendary studio band that eventually branched out to become full rock stars, Toto, will celebrate their 35th anniversary with a series of 29 European dates followed by a tour of the U.S.

The band originally came together in 1976 and was made up of studio veterans who, over the course of their careers, have appeared on over 5,000 albums. It wasn’t until 1978, though, that they broke through with the single Hold the Line. They followed with almost a decade of hit singles, including Rosanna, Africa, 99, I Won’t Hold You Back and I’ll Be Over You.

The current version of the band boasts three original members, Steve Lukather, David Paich and Steve Porcaro. Original vocalist, Bobby Kimball, left in 2008 to be replaced by Joseph Williams (the two had switched of membership for many years). Original drummer Jeff Porcaro died in 1992. Simon Phillips has been drumming for them since.

Also in the current touring lineup is Jenny Douglas-McRae on vocals, Nathan East on bass and Mabvuto Carpenter on vocals.

Unfortunately, Toto will not be doing any dates in the U.K. on this tour. They explained in a special entry on their website:

We want to inform everyone that we will unfortunately not be performing in the UK on our upcoming European Tour. It was simply not logistically feasible as the proper venue in London was unavailable at the necessary time. We adore all of our fans in the UK, and will miss seeing you this summer. Rest assured, we will be back in the UK in 2014 and look forward to seeing our loving fans at additional shows on the upcoming summer tour!
