Kelly Rowland thinks it is "so crazy" that people are willing a feud between herself and Beyoncé Knowles.

The songstress caused controversy with her new song Dirty Laundry, which touches upon her envy of Beyoncé's hugely successful solo career following their time in girlband Destiny's Child.

Kelly has since been bombarded with questions regarding her relationship with Beyoncé, with the star revealing that rumours of a feud couldn't be further from the truth.

“I think the people wanted those stories for years and that’s just so sad on them because it’s not like that,” she revealed in an interview with omg! Insider. “It’s so crazy and I just think it’s so sad that we live in a world where people don’t want to see women get along and encourage and empower each other; and that’s what we do for each other.”

Kelly then got emotional talking about the bond between herself and Beyoncé.

“I love my sister and she is so incredibly supportive,” she gushed, with tears rolling down her cheeks. “One of the closest people to me. I love her to death and I love being an aunt.”

In Dirty Laundry, Kelly sings lyrics including: “When my sister was on stage killing it like a motherf****r, I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf****r. Bird in a cage you would never know what I was dealing with.

"Went our separate ways but I was happy that she was killing it. Bittersweet she was up and I was down. No lie, I feel good for her but what do I do now?”

Kelly has revealed Beyoncé's reaction after playing the song to her for the first time.

“She looked at me and said, ‘It’s incredible,’ and said how proud she was of me, and then said, ‘I never left,’” she said. “It was so true. She never left. I checked out for a minute.”

Kelly is grateful for her former bandmate's support. The 32-year-old star has had her ups and downs but has always relied on her friend and her family, including Beyoncé's mother Tina and sister Solange.

“I definitely think it makes friendship stronger and I’m so grateful for her, for Michelle [Williams], for Angie, for Solange, for my mama T, for my mother, for being incredible women in my life and always lifting me up,” she said tearing up.
Kelly's latest album Talk a Good Game is due for release later this month.
