The Computers set the bar high with a projection fuelled explosive set. The frontman is worth his weight in gold and whipped the crowd into a massive moshpit after only a couple of songs. The security earned their pay pulling crowd surfers out of the melee.
The band is fast gaining a reputation as a killer live act, with a hardcore punk/rock 'n' roll/ sound with a tinge of Motown thrown in.
Kate Nash persued her Siouxie Soux fetish with her all girl band to the delight of the largely teenage crowd in the Festival Republic tent.
The Deftones warmed up the crowd nicely for System Of A Down who delivered a frenzied set full of classics like Toxicity and Chop Suey to make the whole of Reading glad they reformed. Highlight of the day without a doubt.
Green Day topped off the night with a lengthy 2 and a half hour set filled with a mixture of new, less familiar tracks from their Uno Dos Tres Trilogy, and a whole bunch of singalong hits including the whole of classic album Dookie. Lead man Billie Joe proved he's still got the energy and enthusiasm he's always had, some 20 years down the line. His dedication to the pop punk cause is as fervent as ever.
And tonight we look forward to Marr, Foals, Jake Bugg and Eminen.
