Miley Cyrus’ representative has slammed a “creatively edited” interview in which she was quoted saying she has “so many f**king issues”.

The 20-year-old singer once again became the subject of controversy when she appeared to address her outlandish behaviour after her 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke.

"I'm messed up... I have so many f**king issues. I am so f**ked up - everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up,” she is quoted telling the Sunday People.

"I don't have a normal life. I take a hiatus every now and again but I'm not good at that."

It remains unclear when the interview took place but a spokesperson for the star says the words are misleading.

“She only did one interview since VMAs and that’s not it,” the representative told Just Jared.

“She sat down with MTV for her upcoming [documentary]. We haven’t released that interview yet. Someone did some creative editing of an old interview.”

Miley was seen heading to a recording studio in Studio City, California on Monday and appeared to address the controversy on her Twitter account earlier in the day.

“ain’t nobody got time for that #BS,” she wrote.

Miley’s fourth studio album, Bangerz, is scheduled for release next month.
