Madonna caused chaos on the campus of her alma mater on Thursday.
The star was pictured visiting the University of Michigan with her 17-year-old daughter, Lourdes, who is currently scoping out potential college programmes.
People.com reports "word spread quickly" among students, and classes soon ground to a halt.
"There was a lot of excitement," vocal performance senior Lindsey Meekhof told the website.
"[Madonna's] daughter was learning about our musical theatre program. Someone announced to my choir class Madonna was in the building, and choir wasn't productive anymore after that."
Lourdes reportedly toured the North Campus with a major from the musical theatre programme and ate lunch at a residence hall.
University students were apparently swarming around campus trying to catch a glimpse of the teenager and her famous mother.
"People that weren't music school students were all over the area," Lindsey said, adding, "Madonna tried to keep the attention on her daughter but... people were everywhere."
People.com reports Madonna briefly studied at U Michigan before she quit school and moved to New York to pursue her music career.
She recently confessed to having high hopes Lourdes might follow in her footsteps by attending classes at the school.
"I want my daughter to go to school there. I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place," the pop star told NFL.com before her 2012 Super Bowl half-time performance.
A spokesperson for the star has not commented on the campus visit.
