Chris Brown has failed in his bid to take marijuana into rehab.

The 24-year-old singer had pleaded with staff that he needed the drug for depression and anger management issues, and that it was medically prescribed to him.

But staff rejected his request, and also confiscated his phone for the duration of his stay reports TMZ.

The Don't Wake Me Up singer was last week ordered to spend 90 days in a live-in anger management facility after he was found to have violated his probation when he flew into a violent rage and threw a rock through his mother's car window while at a treatment facility earlier in the month. He was being treated for anger management issues at the clinic after he was accused of punching a man during a row over a photo.

"Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behaviour, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point," his rep said before he was thrown out for his fiery temper.

Chris’ latest stint in rehab means he misses the release of his new album X on December 3.

He also remains on probation for his 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna, which friends say makes it hard for Chris to change his life.

"[Chris] is really trying to move forward from the incident with Rihanna, but feels it's just going to haunt him for the rest of his life.

"He believes if he was allowed to take the marijuana things would dramatically improve in his life, immediately. Chris isn't the monster everyone thinks he is,” an insider recently told Radar.
