Harry Styles was apparently never "in it for the long haul" with Kendall Jenner.
The One Direction star was first linked to the half-sister of Kim Kardashian last year, but over the weekend it was reported their romance had run its course.
Harry and his band will be setting off on their Where We Are Tour in April, while Kendall has been making waves during Fashion Week by walking the runway for Marc Jacobs and Giles Deacon.
Apparently their busy schedules meant they both saw the break-up coming.
“It was only a matter of time. When they hung out with each other they were just being young and having a good time," an insider told Hollywoodlife.com.
“They both knew it had an expiration date with their schedules so they didn’t fall hard into something more serious.
“Mostly Harry wasn’t ever in it for the long haul. Kendall had a gleam of hope but she wasn’t his dream girl and his schedule was his out, he could have let it continue but it was his decision to move on.”
One Direction will be touring through South America, Europe and North America before finishing up in Miami in October.
There could be a future for 20-year-old Harry and Kendall, 18, once things have settled down a bit.
“The way they left it opens things up for future hook-ups,” the source continued. “So it’s over for now but we’ll see what happens after the tour.”
It seems as though Harry has no intention of slowing down however.
As well as staying busy with the band, the curly-haired singer has penned a track with John Legend, which was pitched to The X Factor US winners Alex & Sierra for their album.
