Lily Allen says she wrote “terrible weird music” while pregnant.

Before the release of her latest album Sheezus, the 28-year-old took a break from music to have daughters Ethel, two, and Marnie, 15-months, with her husband Sam Cooper.

And Lily confesses writing music while with child wasn’t a pleasant experience, as she thought her songs were awful.

“I tried to write through my pregnancy with my youngest, but the hormones were really weird and it was just really forced and sounded terrible,” she told British newspaper The Sun,

Lily also revealed she would have been happy writing off music entirely to care for her children.

“I had every intention of being a stay-at-home mum but it just didn’t work for me like that,” the songstress explained.

Lily is attempting to find a balance between motherhood and career that works for her.

The star doesn’t think it’s necessary to restrict her self-expression entirely because she is a parent.

“[My husband’s] told me to tone it down now I’m a mum. On my last tour, when I sang Not Fair, I used to act out fellatio using my microphone,” Lily revealed.

“But I have tried to tone down my language.”

The Air Balloon pop singer has no problem letting her tots in on the fun while onstage.

One time her daughter got a first-hand taste of stardom during rehearsal.

“I was there with one of the dancers and my eldest was screaming — she just wanted to be held,” Lily recalled.

“But I had to practise my routines. So there I was, twerking with my eldest in my arms and I was like, ‘This is really weird’. All the roadies are like, ‘Niiiice’.”
