Rita Ora's far-reaching relationship makes her "sad".
The British singer has been dating Scottish DJ Calvin Harris since May last year. With their busy careers it can be difficult to spend quality time together, but the 23-year-old says it's a sacrifice she's willing to make.
“You have to fly each other out, you just have to,” she shrugged to British newspaper The Mirror. “Sometimes you fly for 20 hours, sometimes you only fly for five hours. It’s an effort, but you make it work.
“If you had a choice, you want that person with you. It makes me pretty sad. But you work with what you’ve got.”
Rita was born in Kosovo and her father stayed in the country while her mother moved with the kids to Britain in 1991.
The star figures that if her parents managed to overcome these obstacles, she and Calvin will also be able to make it work.
Rita and her beau even collaborated on her latest hit I Will Never Let You Down, which hit number one in the UK Singles Charts. She admits she was originally sceptical about teaming up with Calvin, but that she's pleased it worked out.
Things might be going well with her producer boyfriend, but Rita admits keeping pals close hasn't been plain sailing.
“I have had some that you don’t even recognise any more,” she sadly admitted. “It can be scary when people start to act weird around you. They even ask if they can go to the toilet.
"People say, ‘Rita has changed’ but we are supposed to change. You have a career to change for the better and to succeed. It’s not your job to persuade friends that you are the same. They have to accept I am going to change because I am working my b****y arse off."
