Zayn Malik was spotted having a drink at a cheap bed and breakfast in Blackpool.
The 21-year-old One Direction singer was photographed in the English beachside resort town smoking a cigarette outside The New Esplanade Hotel, an establishment that charges each lodger £24.50 for one night’s stay.
Zayn’s fiancée Perrie Edwards was performing with her band Little Mix at a nearby venue on Monday and apparently he took the opportunity to chill out without much fanfare at the B&B.
“He may be worth a small fortune but he is clearly very down to earth and snubbed some of the posher hotels such as the Hilton in the area to enjoy some down-time,” a source told British newspaper The Mirror.
“He enjoyed a drink at the B&B but didn’t stay.”
Zayn’s band One Direction is currently in the middle of their Where We Are Tour, which sees them performing 69 shows on three continents.
Last month a video was released by MailOnline showing Zayn and his bandmate Louis Tomlinson in a car smoking what appeared to be marijuana during their visit to Peru in April. The pair also discussed the nature of drugs in the vehicle, which was on the day they performed at the Estadio Nacional in Lima.
As the band - also formed on Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - continue their worldwide tour tensions have reportedly grown high between the lads.
"At times, they're hardly talking backstage. Liam, Harry and Niall are worried about losing fans - they're also nervous the scandal might affect their success in America," an insider told British magazine Closer previously.
