Ed Sheeran feels as if he’s trapped in a “bubble” now that he’s a Hollywood A-lister.

The 24-year-old singer first achieved mainstream success from relative obscurity after releasing his independent EP No. 5 Collaborations Project in 2011, which reached number two on the iTunes chart without any marketing or promotion.

His two subsequent albums, 2011’s + and 2014’s x, have sold over 2.4 million copies combined and sometimes Ed longs for the life he lived before becoming a celebrity.

“I’d like to live for a bit! I feel like I live in a bubble where normal happens outside, and everything ‘Hollywood’ happens inside,” he told UK newspaper The Mirror.

“I’d like to get on the outside for at least a year.”

But before Ed can take a proper break from the spotlight, he has numerous professional obligations to complete.

The star is currently performing concerts internationally on his The X Tour, which ends in Auckland, New Zealand on December 12.

Ed confesses touring has taken a huge toll on his body and the star is eager to get back in shape.

However, the singer is aware his tendency to overindulge in alcohol consumption has an adverse impact on his weight.

“I was in good shape after learning how to dance for the Thinking Out Loud video – but then I started drinking again,” he noted.

Ed is well-loved for his down to earth personality.

And the star has spoken previously about why the classic Hollywood lifestyle doesn’t appeal to him.

"I think you can easily live the rock star stereotype, but it’s a once-in-a-while thing. If you do it all the time it loses its value and loses its excitement,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “So we’ll have a blowout once every three months and we’ll do it properly rather than have a blowout every night.”
