Nick Jonas has joked he named his album after himself because he couldn't come up with a better title.

After band Jonas Brothers, which he was in with siblings Joe and Kevin, broke up in 2013, the 22-year-old launched a solo career.

His self-titled record was released in November last year and has already spawned hit tracks Chained and Jealous. It follows 2005's Nicholas Jonas and the star jokes he's just a little lacking in imagination when it comes to naming his musical efforts.

"Um no, no, it's very important I call it this; it's a redefining in my life... and maybe I couldn't think of a better title..." he laughed in response to BBC Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw's suggestion it's a little lazy. "I'm so obsessed with myself!"

Luckily he's a little more inventive when it comes to lyrics and particularly Jealous has been a smash hit. It reached number one in the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart and even Nick can't get enough of it.

"I felt the same way when I wrote it!" he admitted when Nick said he thought the track would get on his nerves after a while. "I was like, 'Oh, I'm loving this!' and then I thought by the time I release it I would hate it, because it feels like one of those songs that could become annoying.

"And to some who are listening are probably like, 'It is annoying!' but to me, I still enjoy it."
