Daya, who is no stranger to speaking out for what she believes in, took to her social media to help lend a hand and some love to the
Olivia Hope Foundation.
The charity foundation, which was started after the sudden passing of 12-year-old Olivia Hope a few years ago, has made it their mission to raise money to help kids with cancer. Olivia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the age of 11 and went through a series of treatments, including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant (her twin sister Sabrina was her donor). After 15 months of battling Leukemia, Olivia passed away on April 16, 2017 at the age of only 12. The foundation today has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in her honor and even celebrities like Daya and Stranger Thing's Millie Bobby Brown have been big contributors.
With families going through tough times even more now with COVID-19 on top of dealing with cancer, the foundation just launched a new campaign whereas people can give as little as $25 and in return get a cute ducky made out of steel in either black or special edition gold by their charity partner Redline Steel whose CEO Colin Wayne’s own niece has cancer and is supported by the foundation too.
Daya, writing on her Instagram said,
"Olivia Hope Foundation is a foundation named after the beautiful Olivia LoRusso. Olivia passed away due to childhood cancer just a few years ago. She was only 12. I was lucky enough to meet her and spend a day together with her & her sister in 2016. No child or family should have to endure this unimaginable pain.
