The world-famous Royal Holloway Chamber Orchestra and Choir, in partnership with the London Mozart Players will be returning to London for a spectacular performance on 2 February 2022, at the new venue of Shoreditch Town Hall.
This celebratory concert will include a wide variety of uplifting music celebrating youth and culture. The programme of music will include Petite Suite by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, one of the composer’s lighter compositions; packed with charm, wit, humour and joy. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate and Laudate Dominum, from Vesperae solennes de confessore with soloist, and Royal Holloway alumna, Hilary Cronin.
29-year-old soprano Hilary Cronin has recently won first prize and audience prize at the 2021 Handel Singing Competition. Hilary trained at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, prior to this, she read music at Royal Holloway and was a Choral Scholar of The Choir of Royal Holloway.
The concert will also feature works by British contemporary composer; Cecilia McDowall, American composer and conductor; Jake Runestad and a new composition by the award-winning Nathan James Dearden, a PhD student from Royal Holloway.
Rebecca Miller, Director of Orchestras at Royal Holloway, said: “I am delighted to be involved with Royal Holloway in Concert with the London Mozart Players. After a break in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, finally being on stage with other performers is going to be incredibly exciting.
“I feel passionately about the theme of youth and culture, both in the music world and in wider society. It’s important to hear many different voices and to enable young people to unlock doors, build on their confidence and to be the best they can be.”

Whilst we have used the pandemic to focus on a lot of recording work, there is nothing to beat the enjoyment of performing to live audiences. It is a particular pleasure this year to celebrate the recent competition success of one of our former choral scholars, Hilary Cronin. I can proudly say that London is now full of singers who studied at Royal Holloway with us and many travel the world representing the best of British choral culture.
“Alongside some traditional Mozart, the Choir are pleased to present some pieces by exciting new young composers from the US and UK. Included in our programme is a new work written especially for the Choir in 2021 by our Composer-in-residence Nathan James Dearden.”
The Choir of Royal Holloway, University of London is considered one of the finest mixed-voice collegiate choirs in the UK. This rare opportunity to see them perform accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra, which features some of the most distinguished student musicians in the UK and the UK’s oldest chamber orchestra, London Mozart Players, is the perfect night out for music lovers.
