No summer plans yet? How about a trip to Egypt? Egypt has some great music festivals, and what’s more, the Egypt visa is very easy to acquire online.

Egyptian music in ancient times
Egypt’s musical tradition goes back centuries. The usage of musical instruments dates back to ancient Egypt, and indeed musical festivals took place during those times to celebrate various events. Nowadays, it’s all commercially driven, of course, but that doesn’t mean the quality is any less.

Here are three of the best festivals you can visit during your stay in Egypt. But while preparing your trip, make sure to check which visa documents you need to travel to Egypt.

Egypt visa online or visa on arrival?
Most travellers to Egypt have to decide between two visa types: the online e-visa or the visa on arrival at the airport in Egypt. While the visa on arrival is cheaper, it also requires you to stand in line at the airport to get it. The queues can be quite lengthy. That’s why most travellers go for the so-called e-visa Egypt instead. This visa type is applied for online, after which it is sent to you by e-mail. All you need to do is print it and show it at the airport, and you’re free to pass.

If for some reason you’re not eligible for the e-visa for Egypt, or the application was rejected, you can still get the visa on arrival.

Sandbox- 26th - 28th of May, 2022 El-Gouna, Red Sea
Sandbox is easily Egypt’s most popular music festival. Located along the Red Sea, it combines artists from all over the world with beautiful seaside views. This area has many resorts, making it very easy to book accommodation nearby, and you can enjoy a nice resort holiday during your stay. While most acts are of course Egyptian bands, it also features artists from outside the country, such as Vaal (GBR), Mind Against (IT), and Yulia Niko (DE).

A full weekend pass costs about £155.

Cairo Jazz Festival - 27 OCT - 4 NOV 2022, AUC TAHRIR CULTURAL CENTER
Jazz lovers won’t want to miss the Cairo Jazz Festival. Founded in 2009, it has become a staple of Egypt’s musical scene. Like the Sandbox Festival, the Cairo Jazz Festival features both Egyptian and international artists. Located in Cairo, you won’t have a shortage of hotels and other accommodations, and finding the cultural centre is likewise very easy.

Tickets are not available yet.

Chill O’posite - Oct 2022, Dahab, Egypt
The resort town of Dahab, roughly 80 kilometres (50 miles) from Sharm-el-Sheikh, is extremely popular with tourists. What many don’t know is that Dahab also hosts one of Egypt’s premier up-and-coming music festivals, Chill O’posite. As with Sandbox, you won’t just get to experience great music, but also the lovely seaside views of the Gulf of Aqaba.
