Back To Back Sounds is a new and easy way to enjoy the best on-demand music content from the BBC, offering hours of uninterrupted music curated by our experts and big names in the music industry.
Launching from today and over the coming weeks, the twelve different Back To Back Sounds are organised by genre, artist, theme or occasion. They feature the latest programmes from across our radio stations seamlessly interwoven with new commissions, hosted by some of the most well-known and loved music artists.
The Back to Back Sounds are: The Reset takes listeners on a restorative journey of calm; Amplified is the go-to destination for indie, rock and alternative fans; Total Rewind features hours of throwback R&B and Hip-Hop; Radio 2 90s is the best of the 90s in one handy package, guided by Fearne Cotton and Dermot O’Leary. Rap Unlocked is the home of Rap, Hip-Hop, Grime and Drill – guided by the superstars of the genre including Ms Banks and Potter Payper.
Artist Icons is a career-spanning overview of the world’s most iconic musicians starting with Coldplay; Pre-Party is the ultimate selection to get your party started; Pop Right Now is non-stop Pop from 2015 onwards; Charged Up is the perfect soundtrack for your run, walk or workout; and Soothing Sleep is a sanctuary of calm to help listeners unwind. Radio 1 Anthems is already hugely popular on-demand and is non-stop bops for hours on end while Radio 1 Happy is uplifting tunes to bring you joy throughout your day, guided by Radio 1’s Katie Thistleton.
Listeners will be able to enjoy brilliant new shows on Back To Back Sounds, including Arlo Parks and her new show Dream Fuel on The Reset, 1Xtra’s Throwback Party hosted by Joelah Noble & Keke will be on Total Rewind, and Dermot O’Leary own Alt 90s show will feature on Radio 2 90s.

Amplified
The go-to destination for indie, rock and alternative fans, Amplified features shows hosted by some of the biggest names of the genre. New titles include 6 Music’s Emo Forever, a new 60 minute on demand show featuring nothing but solid gold upbeat emo and pop punk bangers, with guest presenters invited on once a month to share their favourite tracks.
Radio 2 90s
Bringing listeners a nostalgia drenched celebration of the best music and pop culture from the 90s, featuring the original with Fearne Cotton as well as brand new shows including Alt 90s with Dermot O’Leary.
Rap Unlocked
From Drill, Grime to Hip Hop and Rap, it will be curated by different superstar Rap artists and include their own musical passions and evolution. Celebrating the music of some of the world’s most iconic artists, featuring interviews with celebrity superfans and exclusive performances from the BBC archives. New episodes will drop every fortnight starting with Coldplay, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and more. Radio 1’s Greg James will present Coldplay: At The BBC, an hour-long journey through Coldplay’s career at the BBC using extensive archive of interviews and sessions. London Grammar singer Hannah Reid also hosts I Stan Coldplay presenting her favourite songs and memories as a superfan of the group.
